It had to happen...Askoy is for sale. As you probably know if you have read our website, Askoy has been part of the family for 18 years. Now that the family has doubled in size we have to find a boat that fits our new projects and where the family also fits !

Askoy is a Class 3 from the 60's. Very representative of this type of boats. Olle Enderlein, her architect, worked for a long time with Sparkman et Stephens after which he returned home in Sweden and began drawing the famous Hallberg-Rassy boats.

Askoy raced quite a bit in her first yeaars. Mostly in the northern seas. She did pretty well : second in the Kiel week ; first in the North Sea week ; second in the Baltic Race, etc. The hull is built with mahogany planks on edge.

As you can see in the French section of the website, Askoy has been completely restored between 1992 and 1998.

  • 40 frames changed
  • 80 m of planks replaced.
  • New teak deck on CP marine
  • New engine
  • Kiel bolts
  • New electrical system
  • New spruce mast, chain plate, new rigging
  • Etc …

Since then, Askoy has sailed about 20 000 miles during her trip in the Atlantic between 1999 et 2004. We can testify that ocean sailing on a classic boat is absolutely not a wager, but pure pleasure !

Since her return from the West Indies in 2005, Askoy is in the Conservatoire Maritime du Havre where she has once more been redone like new, nothing has been left aside and she is in Bristol condition ! She can be seen on weekdays in the shed on quai du Brésil in Le Havre, in Normandy (tel : 02.35.24.40.05).
She is now ready to sail for a crossing or just in the European waters, as she has the French "homologation en 1ère Catégorie" (Catégorie A).

Askoy has been classified "BIP" (Bateau d'intérêt Patrimonial) en 2010.
